Sviatoslav Teofilovich Richter ( Sviatosláv Teofílovich Ríkhter, ; - August 1, 1997) was a Soviet pianist well known for the depth of his interpretations, virtuoso technique, and vast repertoire. He is widely considered one of the greatest pianists of the twentieth century.
