Carnival Ride is the second studio album from American country pop artist Carrie Underwood. It was released in the United States on October 23, 2007. It has been certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA. The album includes the singles "So Small", "All-American Girl", "Last Name", "Just a Dream", and "I Told You So", the first three of which were co-written by Underwood. The album was Underwood's first to debut at #1 on the US Billboard 200 Chart selling 527,000 copies and has currently sold 3,091,000 copies in the U.S.

5 stars Leagues Better Than her First Album.
While most country stars go forward and reach for mainstream pop records, like Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood went in reverse. Her first disc had more than a few pop elements but this disc starts off with a foot stomper, "Flat on The Floor" and doesn't let up with fiddles, twang and chorus after chorus that will make you want to shout them out of your car windows. To say she has made a solid country disc in the vein of vintage Reba or Dolly is an understatement.

2 stars Umm, Why Is She Screeching Throughout Most of This Album?
Bottom-Line: The bulk of "Carnival Ride" is entirely formulaic and forgettable.

There is much wrong with the oft superficial hit show, and hit maker American Idol, but the show has a knack for finding female talent. Carrie Underwood who won the fourth season of the much watched Fox classic is one of those talents, sort of.
