Overview Edit

Eden is a 1998 album by English soprano Sarah Brightman. It was released under license by Nemo Studios to Angel Records.

Like Brightman's later album, La Luna, Eden juxtaposed mostly English pop songs with mostly Italian opera songs. This was a departure from her previous albums which was almost entirely in English, such as Fly. Eden retained elements of Timeless, which had strongest classical influences.

Like Timeless, Eden contains one classical rock ballad: "Dust in the Wind". This song was a huge success on Brazilian radio, because it was used on the soundtrack of the soap opera Andando nas Nuvens (Walking on the Clouds). The single "Deliver Me" also gained some mainstream American success because of its inclusion on the soundtrack of the 1999 film Brokedown Palace. The album sold over 2 million copies worldwide.

Every one knows of her breakthrough smash, "Time to Say Goodbye" with Andrea Bocelli. The album with the same name was also very special for Sarah fans. We finally heard her go back to the heights of her voice that so wooed us in Phantom. As good as "Time" is however, "Eden" is better. If you are looking for an al…

3 stars A Beautiful Voice, a good album, but . . .
If you like the sound of Olivia Newton-John, you'll love most of this album. Brightman's voice sounds like Newton-John's on most of the tracks, but with a sparkle that Newton-John only wishes she had. If you want an album that shows off the power and dynamic range that Brightman's wonderful soprano voice can deliver, this is probably not the CD for you. A couple of times, she lets loose with a few measures of voice that would remind you of Frederica Von Stada or Kiri Te Kanawa and those few time…
