A journey into oblivion with several layers of eclectic Jazz, Funk and blends of electro instrumentals rich with underground vibes. Rare cues are "ANGELS", featuring Norah Jones with Wax Poetic a perfect matchup ~ "SUMMER SUN" has Koop featuring Yukimi Nagano you always smile with clouds in the sky ~ "EIGHTY-EIGHT" with Camiel haunting instrumental with bosa nova arrangements ... ~ "INTRASPETTRO" opening latin beat with Les Hommes is intoxicating ~ "GUIMAR", Aim takes syncopation to another level into the world of funk ~ "CHOK A BLOK AVENUE", with the Big Band sound of Bario Jazz Gang ~ "VIA BEATO ANGELICO" did someone notify the Italian Secret Service ~ "STREET SCENE" features my favorite of all St. Germain, with a steady and groovy funky mix with room to spare.Definitely upping the standards of seamlessly, ingeniously and amazing variety of styles and moods in this upbeat happy release. The smooth flow of all the tracks makes this a worthwhile venture into the hip, down with it cool and magical atmosphere that Jazz Lounge creates with new grooves, gotta love it!Total Time: 2-CD-Set ~ ....~ (3/04/2003)

Good cd with a disc one stand-outI enjoyed this release. It's a double disc set from the Watermusic label - a label that has been releasing quite a few differently themed "chill-out" and "lounge" compilations. This one: Jazz Lounge, is more of a downtempo one.And it has some pretty good cuts on it. The standouts to me on this CD is the Urban Chill cut, Les Hommes track, Camiel track and theBugge Wesseltoft song on the second disc. I enjoyed this release. But the roster of artists shouldn't really be anything new to anyone who's collected cuts or comps in this genre before: Montefiori Cocktail (remixed by Nicola Conte), Nuspirit Helsinki, St. Germain, Koop, AtJazz, and De-Phazz are just a few of the others here and the compilation starts off with a Norah Jones song (albeit, not one of my favorites although the voice is nice). All in all, this is a good release. The CD's aren't mixed together, which I actually do like. But the one problem I had with this was consistency in the mood of the music and the recording volumes and the second disc wasn't as strong as the first. But I would still recommend it - especially if you haven't heard material by the artists listed above.
