4 stars Distillers Fans Will Not Necessarily Be Disappointed
Brody Dalle has matured and has taken her music with her. Gone are the spikey hair punk anthems of her previous work, which have been replaced with aggressive, catchy and even danceable at times songs. This has a little bit of everything in the 13 songs (Valium Knights is notably absent) featured on this debut album by Spinnerette. There isn't any real filler on this album and it was well worth the wait. I'm looking forward to more music by Spinnerette.

I can't give this 5 stars though some of the songs warrant it.

The biggest issue I have with this release is the 'brick wall' style of mastering. It's loud. It's distorted and it's compressed maximally.

I love Brody's voice, and some of the songs are amazing, but it's ruined by the recording techniques and the disastrous pumped-up, clipped sound.

I can only imagine how fantastic this CD would sound if it were produced better.
