Thankyou, SufjanSufjan Steven's "The BQE" is a fantastic, cinematic experience. Do not be tentative to embrace this music solely because it is predominantly instrumental. Yes, the film lends visual direction to the music, but the music stands strongly on its own. The compositions are energetic and well orchestrated. Sufjan is a Good Songwriter Who Should Stick to SongsSufjan Stevens is a great songwriter. I love his songs. That said, he should stick to his songwriting career. I think he received a lot of praise for his writing for orchestral instrumentation on his songs & decided to go out on a limb & do an entire album of "symphonic" music. This is dull, flat, and boring. It was disappointing. I sold my copy, but will continue to listen to his other albums. Hopefully he will either go back to songwriting, or take some lessons in scoring for a major orchestra before he attempts anything like this again.
