Overview Edit

Four years after the release of Engineers' landmark debut, the band returned with their epic second album, Three Fact Fader. The 13-track album was produced by the band along with Ken Thomas (Sigur Rós, M83, Maps) over a period of two years, with the final tracks being completed earlier this year. It comes packaged in stunning artwork by music photographer Tom Sheehan.

After initial recording sessions, Engineers became unwitting victims of record company restructuring and the album was left in limbo, unfinished until the band reconvened earlier in the year, largely motivated by public support.

Again, that familiar dream-pop, shoegazing temp…

Listen to "Three Fact Fader" and compare it to the group's earlier recording titled "Engineers." You might note that the amount of compression used in producing "Three Fact Fader" obliterates the texture, subtlety and musicianship found in "Engineers."

Yes, in the earlier recording there are moments of over-zealous compression (harmonies lost, bass lines competing with percussion), but in "Three Fact Fader" the recording company's goal seems to have been to flatten the band's sound as much as p…
