Honestly, when you look at the face of metal at this period of time things were very bleak. Metallica had sold out, MegaDeth was in the hunt for a #1 record, Pantera was about to put out their worst and final album and the metal god himself made this terrible effort. What more can you really say other than the metal scene at the time was in its most fragile state.

The album doesn't entirely suck. For those of whom that have an ability to listen to several different styles and appreciate them for what they are; there are a couple songs on this album that are not too bad. The opening track is probably one of the better ones on the album. "Leave Me Alone" and "Gimp" are listenable tracks, however "Deep In The Ground" and "Wake Up" are pretty much pop songs with distorted guitars. The album is background music at a strip club at best.

With bands at the time of this release like KoRn and Limp Bizkit being the popular bands in the "metal" scene, it's not too much of a surprise to see Halford make this lapse in judgement. For those of whom that like the idea of heavy music with some electronic elements added, they might want to check out the album The Grudge by Mortiis; that is an album that did what this may have intended to do but did it correctly. Luckily, however, Halford released his the Resurrection album a few years after this and earned his metal god status back.
