3 Doors Down are an alt-rock band from Mississippi. They kicked off their platinum-selling career with the single "Kryptonite" (2000) which spent almost three months at No.1 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart and brought the band national attention.
Their career began with an appearance at New York’s CBGB club which secured the band a deal with Republic Records. Their debut album The Better Life was released soon after in 2000. Both "Kryptonite" and "Loser", the follow-up single, helped the album achieve sales of approximately six million.
The band then released another multi-platinum album, 2002’s Away From the Sun. The album featured production and playing contributions from Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson. They achieved more superlative success with the single “Here Without You” which spent over a year in the American Top 40 chart, setting a record in the process. In 2003 the band's achievements were recognized when they won the Grammy for Best Pop/Rock Group.
The band released Seventeen Days in 2005, this time with contributions from heartland rocker Bob Seger. The singles “Let Me Go” and “Behind Those Eyes” plus appearances with Lynyrd Skynyrd helped take the album to platinum sales in just a week.
