Biography

Edit

German heavy metal band Accept, started in the 19070's, hails from the city of Solingen. Founder and lead vocalist, Udo Dirkschneider, along with the other members of Accept have played an important role in both thrash and speed metal eventually spawning the German heavy metal movement of the 1980's. Balls to the Wall from 1983 is their most successful release surrounding the hit of the same name.

In 1997, the band broke up, later resurrecting with a new lead singer.

Accept Pwnz Twitter

May, 13 2010

They’re far from mainstream, and though well-regarded among metal enthusiasts, the band’s fame is eclipsed by other, better-known names in speed metal. However, on Monday, Accept were (somewhat) responsible for Twitgate. The social networking site Twitter was brought to its knees by Turkish Accept fan Bora Kırca, who decided to profess his love for the band online. But his simple tweet, “Accept pwnz,” exposed a bug. He had discovered that typing “accept”’ plus a username made that user follow you. True to viral tradition, the bug quickly went international. Twitter reacted quickly, reducing their huge, interconnected social network to a mass of isolated islands, as every single person found that they followed nobody and that nobody followed them. Panic ensued. The site is back to normal now, but the surrounding furor was substantial. The newly reunited Accept have a lot to thank Bora Kirca for, as they get ready to release their twelfth studio album Blood of the Nations.
