Al di Meola is a respected jazz fusion guitarist and four-time winner of the Best Jazz Guitarist award in the Guitar Player magazine reader poll. His career has seen him work with Chick Corea in the band Return to Forever and collaborations with musicians such as Jan Hammer and John McLaughlin. His solo career has been prolific and has led to the release of many albums, from his debut Land of the Midnight Sun to Diabolic Inventions and Seduction for Solo Guitar in 2006. His output shows evidence of his prowess across many styles and he is widely considered to be a fine technical craftsman as can be heard on the complex track "Race with Devil on Spanish Highway". As a pioneer of the shred guitar he has been considered an influence on other guitarists such as Yngwie Malmsteen, with whom he appeared on Derek Sherinian's album Black Utopia.
