Alcazar makes great pop music, hell, call it disco music. The first cut on the album is called "I love the DJ" and Alcazar does. The songs are devilishly catchy without being too long or boring. The lyrics mirror the fun and irony of today's society and even "the last days of disco" without missing a beat. The albums takes a musical journey through the different stages of disco, from early sped up R&B music with "Funky Feet" to the final piece, and probably the best song on this album or any other album of 2003, "Someday." This song embodies the greatness of disco songs past while describing a perfect society where everyone gets along.

Get "Alcazarized" and enjoy this great POP/DISCO album of 2003!

This group's album,Casino, came out the gate heavy on the Velveeta, but the production was really enjoyable; someone was into kicking some butt on the dancefloor, and they sampled great stuff by Chic, Change, etc.This one sounds like someone pouring all the "right" elements into the production, and coming out with a bit of a mess.There are too many trite, throwaway tracks on the level of "I Love the DJ". Someone seems to have told the singers to "sound soulful" but they don't, and probably can't:they're beyond cute, like vanilla soda on overkill.Despite sampling Diana Ross's Upside Down, the lead single disappoints 'cause the lyric is leaden with lines like "These are the hands we're given". Far better is the so corny it's catchy "I Go Shopping," which is the real hit of the album; the lyric is sublimely inane. (I assume it was written by the same person who wrote Crying at the Discotech, which had some bizarre lines as well).This group can be fun, but they should bring back whoever produced the thumpin' Sexual Guarantee, and stop trying to sound so insufferably cute.The best disco has the faint scent of decadence, which is missing in this record.
