Dirt is the second studio album by the American rock band Alice in Chains and was released on September 29, 1992, through Columbia Records. Peaking at number six on the Billboard 200, the album was well received by music critics and has since been certified four-times platinum by the RIAA, making Dirt the band's highest selling album to date.

The album spawned five singles: "Would?," "Them Bones," "Angry Chair," "Rooster," and "Down in a Hole." The songs on the album focused on depression, drug use, war, death, and other emotionally heavy topics.

Alice In Chains sophomore album "Dirt," stands as the band's most popular and most critically acclaimed album. "Dirt" stands alongside Nirvana's "Nevermind", Pearl Jam's "Ten" and Soundgarden's "Badmoterfinger" as an essential album of the grunge era. 3 stars Not the same impact as it used to have
This album has been in my CD collection since 1993 and, although it used to get lots of play back then, I barely even touch it anymore.

The first time I heard Alice in Chains was when they released "Man in the Box" back in 1991. I wasn't that into the "metal" sound at the time (outside of maybe Guns 'N Roses - can't believe I'm admitting that) but "Man in the Box" was just so dark and addictive that I just had to purchase the album, "Facelift."
