All Saints

All Saints are the English girl group whose cool R&B tinged pop sound helped them to achieve popstar status in their native Britain. Comprised of Shaznay Lewis, Melanie Blatt with sisters Nicole and Natalie Appleton All Saints formed in 1996. They released their eponymous debut album in November 2007 to huge commercial success, spinning four top ten hit singles "Never Ever", "Bootie Call", "I Know Where It's At" and "Lady Marmalade". Their second album Saints and Sinners (2000) spawned their two biggest hits "Pure Shores" and "Black Coffee". The single "Pure Shores" was the second best-selling single of 2000 as a result of featuring in the hit film, The Beach, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. This helped propel Saints and Sinners to 3 times platinum status in the UK.

All Saints split acrimoniously in 2001 after much speculation and rumour, with each member trying a solo career. The Appleton sisters started their own band Appleton, launching a debut album, Everything's Eventual in 2003. The album and their musical duo flopped spectacularly, and after selling fewer than 100,000 albums they were dropped from their label. Blatt had mixed success as both an actress and solo act. Only Lewis saw any real success, winning an Ivor Novello award as the main songwriter for the All Saints, she also had a solo hit single, "Never Felt Like This Before" (04), and she had a part in the massive hit film Bend it Like Beckham.

In January 2006 All Saints reformed and released the album Studio 1, it failed commercially. As a result the girls were dropped from their new label Parlophone. They have vowed to continue working together and are currently looking for a new label.
