Overview Edit

Touch is the second studio album by American R&B singer–songwriter Amerie, released in the United States on April 26, 2005 by Columbia Records and Sony Urban Music. It spawned two singles: the number-one R&B hit "1 Thing" (which also has a remix featuring rapper Eve) and the Lil Jon-produced "Touch". The album debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 124,000 copies.

Touch helped her win the Vibe Award for Club Banger of the Year for "1 Thing". The album was certified gold by the RIAA on August 4, 2005 four months after its release, having sold 406,000 copies in the United States as of June 2009. It also earned Amerie two 2006 Grammy Award nominations, including Best Contemporary R&B Album. The song "Talkin' About" would be sampled on Chinese singer CoCo Lee's "Hip Hop Tonight", from her 2006 album Just Want You.

4 stars Get in "Touch."
Look no further: the party jam of 2005 is here. Amerie's Top Ten single "1 Thing" has it all: a killer guitar hook, an infectious drum beat, and a groove so tight, you could bounce a quarter off it and still get change. Produced by Rich Harrison (who also produced the bulk of this album), "1 Thing" is the dance pop confection that Jennifer Lopez's "Get Right" (also produced by Harrison) should have been but wasn't. The rest of "Touch," Amerie's first album since her 2002 debut, doesn't approach …

3 stars Sadly, not that great...
I was really hoping this album would be better, for the club ready track `1 Thing' was so incredibly tight, but sadly the rest of the album fails to match the intensity of that single, and even `1 Thing' begins to lose a lot of its grander after a few listens. As one reviewer stated, `Touch' is likable, yet unmemorable.

The problem I have with most of the tracks here is that Amerie falls into that niche of overly repetitive chorus lines and bridges, as if the beat was so tight they didn't want …
