Soul singer Anthony Hamilton recorded a debut album that was never released when his record label went bust. After returning to the studio, he finally saw XTC released in (1996) to acclaim by critics. Unfortunately nobody else seemed to notice and the album sold poorly. Hamilton then decided to become a backing singer and assisted artists like D'Angelo, 2Pac and Eve. He recorded another album for a small LA label, but they too went bankrupt before it could be released. He finally made a breakthrough when a collaboration with Nappy Roots was nominated for a Grammy. After agreeing a new record deal as a solo artist, Hamilton released Comin' from Where I'm From (2003). The album spent 18 months on the Billboard 200, and earned Hamilton four Grammy nominations.
On the back of that success, Hamilton brought out a compilation of unreleased tracks called Soulife (2005). An album of new material surfaced shortly afterwards: Ain't Nobody Worryin' hit No.19 on the album charts and earned more positive reviews. Southern Comfort, released in 2007 - five years after most of the songs were recorded.
