Biography

Edit

Apocalyptica are the front runners of the cello-metal genre, turning classical musical skills to the world of rock.

Initial releases were acoustically arranged cover versions of metal staples, including tracks by Metallica, Faith No More and Pantera, but even by their second album, Inquisition Symphony, they were interweaving their own material. Vocals didn’t appear until their third release, Cult, when Sandra Nasic (Guano Apes) joined them on the track “Path Vol.2”, but it marked an ongoing collaborative direction which they repeated on future albums. They further experimented with their sound in Reflections when they enlisted the drumming skills of Dave Lombardo from Slayer on several of the tracks. By 2005 Mikko Sirén was installed as the official drumming member of the group.
