Biography

Edit

Atreyu is an American metalcore band formed in 1998. The current members are Brandon Saller (drums/vocals), Alex Varkatzas (vocals), Dan Jacobs (guitar), Travis Miguel (guitar) and Marc McKnight (bass).

After a couple of EPs (Visions and Fractures in the Façade of Your Porcelain Beauty) they signed to Victory Records in 2001. Their first album Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses was released in 2002, but by the release of their second album The Curse (2004) their sound had changed for the darker.

A Death Grip on Yesterday (2006) was their attempt to move from their successes in the metal scene to a more mainstream audience. Indeed they had a couple of hits with "The Theft" and "Ex's and Oh's" due to their increased balance between the screaming and the melodies, but they were still too extreme to secure a great deal of radio play.

Lead Sails Paper Anchor was released in 2007 and the screaming was almost absent, much to the dissatisfaction of their fans, but to the delight of more pedestrian listeners, who bought the album well, propelling it to No.8 in the Billboard charts.
