Biography

Edit

Atrox is a progressive metal band from Trondheim, Norway. The band were originally formed in 1988 as Suffocation, but the name was changed to Atrox in 1990.

Most of Atrox's early years were spent recording demos. Their first full length album, Mesmerised, was finally released in 1997, containing more of a doom metal influence than its successors.

On the following three albums, Contentum, Terrestrials and Orgasm, Atrox developed their characteristic progressive/avant-garde metal sound. These albums are also notable for the unique vocal style employed by then-frontwoman, Monika Edvardsen, who left the band in 2004.

In 2008, Atrox released a fifth album, Binocular, with new vocalist Rune Folgerø.
