Biography

Edit

Originating in Winnipeg, Canada, Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO) formed from the ashes of the Guess Who who broke up when Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings could no longer get along. In 1973 BTO was born, and released their eponymous first album in the spring of that year. However it was their second album, Bachman-Turner Overdrive II, released later the same year which proved the most commerically successful in both the US and Canada and spawned BTO's biggest hit "Takin' Care of Business". BTO were one of the first hard rock acts to utilise strong melodies and catchy guitar riffs and were also known for their clean living lifestyle due, in no small part, to founding member Randy Bachman's Mormon religious beliefs.

BTO had various line-up changes over the years but went on to produce 18 albums and create other hit singles including "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" and "Roll On Down The Highway". BTO finally ceased performing in 2004 although many former members tour with other bands and Randy Bachman is currently touring with Burton Cummings and has released a melodic jazz album Jazz Thing.
