Overview Edit

Remedy is the first full-length studio album by British house duo Basement Jaxx, released in 1999. It includes the single "Red Alert" - one of Basement Jaxx's most famous songs. "Rendez-Vu", "Jump N' Shout" and "Bingo Bango" were also released as singles. "Red Alert" was the first Basement Jaxx single to reach #1 on the U.S. Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. "Rendez-Vu" also reached #1 later in the year, and "Bingo Bango" became their third #1 single the following year. The album has a rating of 88 on Metacritic, signifying "universal acclaim". It is also listed in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

"Same Old Show" samples the chorus from song "On My Radio" by The Selecter.

I reluctantly picked up this album looking for a pumpin' house CD, and I definitely got my money's worth. It is an excellent mix of house, samba, and all-around fun-kay beats. It's easy to listen to all the way through, my favorite tracks being the eerie but solid intro "Rendez-vu," the slick, danceable(?) 3 stars A mixed bag
Basement Jaxx's first album has turned out to be a real mixed bag in terms of quality. On the one hand we have songs like Rendezvous, Jump and Shout, and Bingo Bango, which are classic pumping beats that make you glad you bought the CD. On the other hand though, songs like Being With U, Dont Give Up and Always Be There ruin the experience by being downright awful. Try and pick up the singles instead.
