Truthfully I was cautiously optimistic about this CD when I heard about it's inception... a cover album? I mean at this point in their career, BtBAM had grown progressively stronger with each of their 3 previous releases. Then I read their set list and became incredibly excited. 3 stars 3.5 stars - great song selection, but a bit too close to the originals
I caught Between the Buried and Me live in 2006 (opening for Dragonforce and Lacuna Coil if I'm not mistaken), and while I wouldn't consider myself a fan, I definitely thought their use of keyboards and progressive elements set them apart from the rest of the metalcore fold. They made enough of an impression that when I ran across a copy of their covers album I didn't hesitate to pick it up. Besides, who could resist a tracklisting that goes from Queen and King Crimson to Sepultura and Pantera?
