Biffy Clyro (more commonly Biffy) was formed by three teenagers -- Simon Neil and twin brothers James and Ben Johnston -- in a Kilmarnock school in 1995. From the hardcore/experimental rock of earlier releases such as the Iname EP of 1999 to the more mainstream sound of their latest tracks, the band is adequately named. The name came into being to project that bands need not be forced into one single genre and be judged against that style of music. Who would have thought a small Ayrshire prog rock band could climb to No.5 in the UK charts and sell out venues such as the SECC? Nobody. That's why the growth and evolution of this band is even more extraordinary. Mon the Biffy!
