Blur is the fifth album by English alternative rock band Blur. Released on 10 February 1997 in the UK, it reached the top of the UK album chart. Blur was also a hit in the US, with "Song 2" becoming a hit there and the album being certified Gold. It also spawned several hit singles in the UK, most notably "Beetlebum" and "Song 2".

4 stars Here's why NOT to buy the Best Of instead...
For the people who now realize that "Song 2" does not exemplify this band's true sound, this is still an amazing album. Like so many others, I first took note of Blur with that overplayed hit. But, UNlike the majority of buyers, I was still impressed with the CD's diversity and overall hum. A lot of tracks on the album are hidden gems that probably should've been included on the Best Of release. when this first came out, my friends were pissed. they all wanted to know what the hell hapenned to Blur and why they decided to trash their english pop sensibilities in favour of become Sonic Youth? after the initial shock, this album starts to reveal it's own personality to the jaded Blur fan. in my opinion, the single "Song 2" (which became their biggest hit) is not a good representation of this album. most of the material here is hazy and noisy with some distant melody floating in and out of…
