Bone Thugs-N-Harmony are responsible for one of the biggest-selling hip-hop albums of all time. Their debut LP E 1999 Eternal (1995) has sold over ten million albums worldwide, and included the No.1 smash hit "Tha Crossroads".
Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Wish Bone, Flesh-n-Bone and Bizzy Bone are the five MCs of Ohio's Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. After signing to Eazy-E's record label Ruthless Records, they released an EP called Creepin on ah Come Up (1994) which became a huge hit. Two singles in particular, "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" and "Foe tha Love of $", caused a lot of excitement among hip-hop fans and their reputation crossed over into the mainstream.
Their first proper album E 1999 Eternal (1995) was highly anticipated and sold over 300,000 copies in its first week. It was acclaimed by critics and fans, and topped the Billboard 200 charts for 2 weeks. Three singles were released, the last of which, "Tha Crossroads", was a No.1 smash and Grammy winner. E 1999 Eternal has now sold over ten million copies worldwide.
Buoyed by this success, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony released an ambitious two-disc set, The Art Of War, as a follow-up in 1997. It was another massive seller initially, but was not so popular in the long-run. The single "Look Into My Eyes" reached No.4 in the singles charts. Around this time, Bizzy Bone started to cause problems within the band by refusing to help with promotion or touring. BTNHResurrection (2000) saw a change in direction with Flesh-n-Bone taking more of a prominent role. It was less successful than their previous albums, and shortly afterwards Flesh was arrested. He was sentenced to 11 years in jail for threatening an associate with an AK-47 while on parole.
In 2002, Thug World Order was released, and Bizzy Bone was finally thrown out of the group. Although he briefly re-joined, he was again dismissed from the group in 2005. Individual members have been busy with collaborations on other artists work, the most successful being Krayzie Bone's appearance on the Chamillionaire hit "Ridin'".
In May 2007, the three-piece Bone Thugs-N-Harmony released Strength & Loyalty, featuring a slew of guests including Akon, Mariah Carey, Twista and will.i.am.
