Biography

Edit

Paisley's interest in music started when he was young, and by the time he was thirteen he was an opening act for other country singers including The Judds and Little Jimmy Dickens. While at University he met Kelly Lovelace with whom he would go on to form a successful songwriting partnership.

Once he graduated he signed a songwriting contract with EMI Music, but his singing career started when he signed with Arista Nashville and released "Who Needs Pictures" in 1999. His first No.1 came with "He Didn't Have to Be" and both songs appeared on Who Needs Pictures, his debut album of the same year. Since then he has released a further five albums: Part II (2001), the double platinum albums Mud on the Tires (2003) and Time Wasted (2005), Brad Paisley Christmas (2006) and, most recently, 5th Gear in 2007.

Brad Paisley Takes Top Honors At The CMA Awards

Nov, 11 2010

While the internet may be abuzz about Country music’s newly crowned king and queen, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, a poignant moment of the 44th Annual CMA Awards was the heartfelt acceptance speech by the show’s co-host, Brad Paisley. After being nominated every year since 2005, Paisley finally took home the show’s top honors as Entertainer of the Year. “If you see a turtle on a fencepost, it had help getting up there... I feel just like a turtle on a fencepost,” Paisley said as he choked back tears, thanking his late father and his heroes like Little Jimmy Dickens. With this victory, Paisley joins the elite ranks of artists Keith Urban and Ricky Skaggs, who have won the trifecta of CMA awards: Horizon Award for new artists, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year. Paisley accepted the award after performing a new song, “This Is Country Music,” not featured on his 2009 studio effort American Saturday Night. Said Paisley about his decision to perform a new song, “I have to sing this love song for my fans and this music I love.” The 44th Annual Country Music Association Awards were held on Wednesday night in Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, hosted for the third year in a row by the burgeoning comedy duo Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley.
