Biography

Edit

Buckethead is the enigmatic and prolific guitarist and composer, who allows himself to be identified only by the superior skill of his virtuoso guitar playing. Although he has enjoyed significant success as a solo artist and soundtrack writer, he has also formed many notable collaborations with respected peers from the musical world, including Serj Tankian, Guns N’ Roses and Bill Laswell’s Praxis.

Few facts exist regarding his personal life, but musically he edged into awareness in 1988 when he entered a song into a music magazine competition. The song, “Braxos”, appeared on the 1991 demo by his experimental band, Deli Creeps. Since those days his solo career has been facilitated by his association with Bill Laswell, who produced several of his albums and with whom he played in Praxis and by experimental producer/musician John Zorn. His solo material as Buckethead and Death Cube K features collaborations with many notable musicians and his collaborative effort with Les Claypool (Primus) on Monsters and Robots (1999) is currently his best selling to date. His side projects include Cornbugs, Science Faction and Cobra Strike. From 2000 to 2004 he was a member of Guns ‘N Roses but due to the erratic nature of his relationship with the band, it is unclear whether his contributions will remain intact when Chinese Democracy is finally released.
