A great album for all the punk popsters out there! There is a great variety of songs on this album all of which I think are fantastic!
It's along the same lines as the first album but more perfected and very slightly rockier, yet still pop perfect.
Each song has the "busted" appeal and each one is as catchy as the one before!
Air Hostess- Crazy song about...well...an air hostess! Its one of the guys favourites on the album. 'A damn good song!' Is James' summary, and one of the best Busted songs ever committed to record. Includes wacky plane sound effects!
Crashed the Wedding- No.1 single about the 3 gorgeous guys crashing the wedding to snag the girl of their dreams. Very energetic and will have you singing along after the first time you hear it!
Who's David - A song about a paranoid boyfriend who is convinced his girlfriend is '...sleeping around the town...because the words going around!' And he wants to know WHO'S DAVID? It starts off reasonably slow but then speeds up at the first chorus and stays with a fast tempo for the rest of the song! It's their 2nd single from this ablum.
She Wants To Be Me- The boys worked with Avril's producers, The Matrix on this one. Yet another song about a psycho girlfriend! Fast and wacky lyrics, about a girlfriend who's turning into the boyfriend! Yes sounds weird, but its wonderfully weird! E.g. '...she used to do ballet, now she's a heavy smoker. She's obsessed with me, now she stands up to pee, and now her stupid games have started taking over'
3am - A soaring, epic, thundering tune of sleepless nights and loveless relationships. 3am cements Busteds ability to knock out solid, emotive rock songs just as easily as they come up with high concept pop epics. One of Charlie's favourites.
Falling For You - James has called this jokey tune Busted's 'p*** about song!' Nice! Matt says 'Our Na-na's aren't quite as good as Blink182, but they're the best British na-na's of 2003!'
That Thing You Do - A Sum 41 style sing along. Very melodic and uplifting with a roaring chorus!
Over Now - One of the slower songs on the album! A bit of a power ballad!
Fake - Matt co-wrote this with Robbie William's ex-writing partner Guy Chambers.
Meet You There - Beautifully harmonic. One of the slower song on the album. Maybe they are really feeling the pressure of relationships being in the spotlight 'Wheres the world that doesn't care? Maybe i could meet you there.'
Why - Charlie co-wrote this with his brother. One of the slower songs on the album. Matt says 'You can't jump up and down to this, but that's no bad thing.' It's very much Charlie's style and influenced by his tastes. Only Charlie sings this one.
Loner In Love - A song about the guys not able to ge the girl they want! 'I'm way to scared to phone her, realise i;m a loner in love...'
Better Than This - Matt co-wrote this with Robbie William's ex-writing partner Guy Chambers. Only Matt sings this one.
Can't Break Thru - James collaborated with cult US rock band Neve with this. Only James sings this one.
Nerdy - Another song about the poor guys not being able to get their girl! 'Just becasue i'm nerdy and my friends are thirty, doesn't mean that i swing that way. You've got complications and a reputation, wouldn't wana get in your way.'
The boys get a lot of criticism from people who call them manufactured...but what's manufactured about three young guys putting together a band, getting a record deal, writing and making their own music and being successful! They are doing exactly what they want to do, they are being themselves and they should stay this way because they have had a great start to their career and they are making great music for a very wide ranged audience.
They made a very refreshing appearance on the pop music scene with their wild and wacky lyrics and adorable cheekiness. Its great to watch them on a pop chart show instead of other boy bands who stand there miming!
Overall i think this album is brilliant, each and every song! It well deserved its place at no.2 in the album chart! Well worth buying!
