Overview Edit

Prolonging the Magic is the third studio album by CAKE, an alternative rock band from Sacramento, California. It was released in 1998 (see 1998 in music), and contains 13 songs, including the single "Never There." It was recorded after the departure of guitarist Greg Brown and features a rotating lineup of musicians to replace him. One of them, Xan McCurdy, became his full-time replacement. The album has sold more than one million copies, another platinum record for the band.

The album was given a parental advisory sticker. However, after changing the name of the song "Satan Is My Motor" to "Motor," the sticker was removed.
