Overview Edit

Au Rêve is the second album released by French electronic duo Cassius. It was released in 2002 on Virgin Records in Europe and Astralwerks in the United States. The album was written and produced by Cassius members Phillippe Zdar and Boom Bass and received favorable reviews from music critics upon its release.

Au Rêve is a progression from Cassius' debut album 1999 in that it is a more house music-oriented effort that uses less sampling and more live vocalists. Collaborators include Jocelyn Brown, Ghostface Killah and Steve Edwards. The Edwards track, "The Sound of Violence", topped the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart.

5 stars Major record here!!!
The Cassius team brought here one of the best electro record ever. This is both groovy and deep, touching and dancing, pop and hype. The sound is perfect, the music incredible, all the songs excellent from loungy down tempo to house rockin' beats. Now we know that producers can take the best of themselves (and the best of their friends: Jocelyn Brown, Ghostface Killa from da Wu-Tang Clan, Leroy Burgess...) without spoiling every melody.

Surely one of the records of the year, hope it would be recognized so!!

3 stars cassius rocks out atari style
cassius new album "au reve" is a more tech heavy pursuit than its predecessor "1999". atari bleeps and bloops swirl in and out but never take away from the sophisticated melodies and taught rhythyms.

the whole album has a messy, underground sound to it, which i love considering how sterile and devoid the majority of dance music has become.

like the landmark "discovery" from daft punk, cassius has persued more rock sounds on this album...the electric guitar stands very prominent on many tracks...…
