Casting Crowns is a ballad heavy, soft rock band and was formed by youth pastor Mark Hall in order to spread the Christian message. The entire band are currently ministers of the Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church in Georgia, US. The current members are Mark Hall (vocals), Juan Devevo (guitar, vocals), Melodee Devevo (violin, vocals), Hector Cervantes (guitar, vocals), Andy Williams (drums), Chris Huffman (bass), Megan Garrett (keyboards, accordion, vocals).
Their debut album 2003's Casting Crowns was very successful, achieving platinum status, and when Lifesong was released in 2005 it debuted at No.9 on the American Billboard 200 Albums chart.
In 2007 they released The Altar and the Door, a musical version of the Christian dilemma concerning the difficulties of carrying the message of God beyond the church and into everyday life. It peaked at No.2 on the US Billboard chart.
