Chantal Kreviazuk is a Canadian born singer-songwriter. The classically trained pianist started concentrating on writing pop songs when enforced immobility, following a motorcycle accident, gave her time to write. Despite have no performing experience she signed with Sony at aged 22. She released her critically praised debut Under These Rocks and Stones in 1997. The album went double-platinum in Canada and picked up the Juno award for Best New Comer. It was helped by three of the tracks being used by TV and cinema. She received two more Juno Awards for her follow-up album and her subsequent releases have sold moderately well. She and her husband Raine Maida have written music for other artists, including Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson.
