Christopher Lee's Latest Role: Singer For Symphonic Metal LP

Jan, 7 2010

Sometimes you can teach an old dog new tricks. 87-year old Sir Christopher “Dracula” Lee has lent his mellifluous vocal talents to a symphonic metal concept album written by Italian composer Marco Sabiu. In a video message, Lee remarked "To my surprise and indeed great pleasure, I have suddenly found that there is another string to my bow." With lyrics by Marie-Claire Clavet, the album revolves around the story of the first Roman emperor Charlemagne, from whom Lee is directly related. Ably assisted by the might of an orchestra and a roomful of metal musicians, and with narration from Christina Lee, Christopher’s daughter, the release tells the story of the eighth century leader credited as the “Father of Europe.” With almost three hundred films to his credit, including key roles in the Star Wars series and The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Lee is an extremely prominent figure on the silver screen and this latest venture suggests that he doesn’t intend to slow down as he approaches his tenth decade. Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross will be released in March.
