Biography

Edit

Ciara's debut single "Goodies" hit No.1 on the Hot 100 and in the UK and Canada, and was labelled "Crunk'n'B" for its innovative style. Since then she's had a handful of other hits, though none have yet matched "Goodies".

R&B singer-songwriter, producer and actor Ciara was born Ciara Princess Harris in Texas in 1985. She began her career by joining the US all-girl group Hearsay, but this was short lived and she decided to work on her song-writing instead. She met up with R&B producer Jazze Pha and began work on her debut album Goodies. The singles "Goodies" and "1, 2 Step" (featuring Missy Elliot) were hugely successful, reaching No.1 and No.2 respectively on the Hot 100. The album went on to sell over 2 million copies in the US.

In 2005 Ciara toured with both Gwen Stefani and Bow Wow, and sang on Missy Elliot's "Lose Control" which would go on to win the Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video.

On her follow-up album Ciara: The Evolution, Ciara worked with a raft of new producers including will.i.am and collaborators 50 Cent and Chamillionaire. The album was a huge success debuting at No.1 on the Billboard charts, eventually going platinum.

Ciara also has an acting career with roles in the films All You've Got, and Mama, I Want to Sing in which she plays the part of soul singer Patti LaBelle.
