Camp Kill Yourself or CKY are a rock band formed in West Chester, Pennsylvania in 1998. The band are: Deron Miller on vocals and guitar, Chad I. Ginsburg on guitar, Jess Margera on drums and Matt Deis on bass guitar.
Miller and Margera formed the band Foreign Objects in 1994 then, joined by bassist Ryan Bruni, formed oiL in 1996. Then along came Ginsburg and shortly after, CKY were born.
Jess Margera's brother is known to the world as Jackass crash test dummy Bam Margera. This provided an ideal opportunity for the band to get some exposure, by providing the backing tracks for Margera's stunts. In 1999 Bam released a video of CKY sound-tracked escapades while at the same time the band released their debut album CKY: Volume 1. The album was originally released featuring a picture of US politician Budd Dwyer, who shot himself on Live TV, the bands' then record company Volcom Entertainment considered it likely to offend and so the album has been reprinted a number of times by different record labels with different covers. The single "96 Quite Bitter Beings" was featured on the video game Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3.
Ryan Bruni left the band in 1999, to be replaced eventually by Vern Zaborowski. In 2002 the band released their next album Infilterate, Destroy, Rebuild, which reached the top 40 of the Mainstream Rock chart, promoted by the single "Flesh Into Gear" (which made its way onto Jackass: The Movie credits).
In 2004 Zaborowski the left band, to have his place filled by All That Remains bassist Matt Deis. In 2005 An Answer Can Be Found was released, making it to No. 35 on the Billboard 200, the single "Familiar Realm" got into the top 40 on the Mainstream Rock chart.
The band may have hit a problem at the end of 2007, when Deron Miller was believed to have left the band, time will tell if this is permanent.
