Creed
Oct, 16 2009
There's not many still-touring rock bands who can boast a diamond-selling record in their catalog - that is, an album with certified U.S. sales of over ten million. Creed are one of them: their 1999 album Human Clay has sold upwards of 11m, and after a five-year break they've reunited for a two-month nationwide arena tour. But just days before the end of the tour, it seems enthusiasm is already waning. Their gig this Friday at the BJCC Arena in Birmingham, Alabama, is far from a sell-out, so promoters have reduced ticket-prices -- to free. Initially priced between $35-85, this week it has been possible to purchase a pair of tickets from Ticketmaster for a 75-cent convenience charge each and a $4.50 order processing charge; that's it, no ticket cost. Though we can partially blame the economic crisis, it's still an unprecedented price-cut, and it's especially surprising for a band with such a large fanbase. So, is a Creed live show worth $3? We'll find out if there's any empty seats when the gig starts.
