Classic Rock Trio Prepare Classic Rock Covers Recrord
Sep, 11 2010
Crosby, Stills & Nash have returned to the studio to record their first new album in a decade, and are about a third through their disc of classic rock covers. But the classic rock band will not include any songs by former band member and classic rock icon Neil Young on their disc.
"We all want it to be right" Graham Nash told Billboard, "Rick [does] too, so we're taking our time to make sure it is." The disc is being produced by Rick Rubin, who famously reinvigorated Johnny Cash's career when he produced his late-period American series of albums. "It's hard to tell CSN what to do in the studio after almost 40, 50 years," Nash said of working with Rubin, "but it's an interesting experience. We're certainly opening to listening to [him]. He has good ideas, of course."
Bob Dylan's "Girl from the North Country," the Beatles' "Norwegian Wood" and the Rolling Stones' "Ruby Tuesday" will be covered on the album, but the band haven't chosen anything by Neil Young. However, Young has given Nash permission to compile a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young live album, from nine different concerts on their 1974 tour. "He knows me," Nash said. "He trusts me." The CSNY live album will be released next year.
