Brazilian indie-rock band CSS got their name from a quote by Beyoncé, who said "I'm tired of being sexy". The Portuguese translation provided Cansei de Ser Sexy with their name. In 2004 their record company decided to promote them in Britain, flying UK journalists to South America to secure coverage. The plan worked, and CSS quickly gained a reputation in Europe as a hot band to watch. They signed to Sub Pop in 2006 and the debut single "Let's Make Love And Listen To Death From Above" was a big hit in indie clubs. CSS toured the world and released a debut self-titled album, which was warmly received by critics.
