Danzig is the 1988 debut album of the American heavy metal band Danzig, led by Glenn Danzig who was formerly the songwriter and vocalist of The Misfits and Samhain.

The album was also the first release on producer Rick Rubin's new label Def American Recordings. Def American's successor, American Recordings reissued the album in the USA and UK in 1998.

Danzig is the band's best-selling full length album and was certified Gold in the U.S. in 1994.

I'm just going to get this out of the way because it really frustrates me when they do this. I understand that Danzig's dark and evil music has never gone too well with concerned and controlling parents, but there are absolutely NO swear words to be found on this album - none at all. The reason this bugs me is that I have heard so many records in which cuss words dominate the bulk of the lyrics (i.e. Sepultura's Roots) and yet no Parental Advisory sticker is to be found on the inlay booklet. I am not realy a big punk fan and when I heard Misfits ex. lead singer Glen Danzig now had his own metal band,i had to check them out! Glen Danzig has one of the greatest singing voices ever. Similar to Elvis but better than elvis! The 1st track "twist of cain" was a realy catchy kind of dark Hard rock,straight up heavy metal song!
