5 stars Surprisingly mellow and completely remarkable
I borrowed this CD before I bought it because I wanted to hear what the buzz was about. I was completely and pleasantly surprised by the style. Most tracks are unaccompanied acoustic guitar, and those that have background instruments use them to good effect. The harmonies are tight and a little unusual, almost like classic Jon Anderson (Yes). The lyrics, while all unrelenting teen angst and boy-loses-girl, are really quite raw in their emotion. 3 stars Amazing lyrics, not-so amazing music
This is a very nice album, worth the money. If you focus more on the music of it however, you might not appreciate it as much. The poetic, true-to-life lyrics hit home, but be forewarned, most are pretty sad. The constant acoustic guitar, while fitting for the songs, gets old, and leaves you wanting more complexity in the music itself. So if you're looking for a nice mellowy kind of sound with incredible lyrics, this is a great pick.
