Biography

Edit

David Sanborn is a Grammy award-wining American saxophonist who first took up the instrument on the advice of his doctor, who recommended the instrument as a way of strengthening chest muscles weakened by polio. The early advice led to him playing with esteemed blues musician Albert King when Sanborn was only 14 years old. By the late 1960s he was a session player of note and played with a distinguished list of artists including David Bowie (for whom he played on the track "Young Americans"), Eric Clapton, Elton John] and The Eagles. His playing can also be heard on the television show L.A. Law and he has done radio and television broadcasting, including a period as the co-host of Night Music. His discography is long and began in 1975 with Takin' Off, with his most recent release being 2005's Closer.
