Originally a side-project for electro-industrial pioneer Bill Leeb, Delerium saw Leeb team up with Rhys Fulber and a host of guest stars for over a dozen albums. Their biggest success came in 2000, when “Silence” (featuring Sarah McLachlan) became a Top 5 hit across Europe and Australia.
Leeb formed Front Line Assembly in the mid-80s, and went on to work on a side-project named Delerium in the latter part of that decade with band-mate Michael Balch. After Balch’s interest waned, Rhys Fulber stepped in as Delerium continued to record and experiment with electronic ambient and dance music. They often feature female guest vocalists, and have called on the likes of Nerina Pallott, Emily Haines and Kristy Thirsk to sing on tracks. Their big break came after trance DJs, such as DJ Tiesto, remixed the song “Silence”, which featured Sarah McLachlan on vocals. The trance version became a club anthem and a huge chart hit, which boosted sales of the original album Karma (1997).
