Biography

Edit

"Dido" Florian Cloud de Bounevialle Armstrong learned to play several instruments from a young age. Such was her interest in music, that she abandoned a law degree to pursue a musical career.

She had been collaborating with her brother, and his band Faithless, in 1995 and when this sparked interest amongst the musical establishment, she was able to hand them some demo tracks she had recorded. These tracks were eventually polished up and found their way onto her debut album No Angel which was released in 1999.

Her album found its way to an audience through the single "Here with Me", which was used as theme music for the television show Roswell. The track "Thank You" was used in the film Sliding Doors and the samples of the same track were used in Eminem's No.1 single "Stan". The album was massive, becoming the top-selling album of 2001 in the UK. A raft of awards followed.

Life for Rent was released after a short sabbatical in 2003 and was hotly anticipated. It debuted at No.1 in many countries worldwide, and has gone on to sell over eight million copies. A third album is expected in 2008.
