Dimmu Borgir are a Norwegian black metal band whose members operate under a series of pseudonyms: Shagrath, Silenoz, Glader, ICS Vortex, Mustis and Hellhammer.
They were already successful in their homeland having released one EP (Inn I Evighetens Mørke (1994)) and two albums, (For All Tid (1994) and Stormblåst (1996)) before making their English-speaking full-length debut Enthrone Darkness Triumphant in 1997. Further albums followed, Spiritual Black Dimensions in 1999 and Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia (2001), both of which were critically acclaimed. For Death Cult Armageddon they collaborated with the Prague Philharmonia to enrich their classical arrangements.
Their most recent album was 2007’s In Sorte Diaboli.
