Overview Edit

The Sickness is the debut album by American heavy metal band Disturbed. The album was recorded in 1999 and released on March 7, 2000. The album peaked at number 29 on the Billboard 200 chart and it has spent a total of 103 weeks on that chart, as of June 2010. The Sickness has been certified 4x Platinum by the RIAA, with around 4,138,206 copies sold in the United States alone as of 2010, making it the band's most successful album.

Unlike Disturbed's later albums, which are mixed in style, The Sickness consists primarily of heavier songs. It is the only studio album by Disturbed to exclude a title track of the exact same name, although the second single, "Down with the Sickness", includes the album title as the last two words, so it can be considered the title track.

4 stars I Finally Gave In, and...
I bought Disturbed's THE SICKNESS, after not being able to get "The Game" out of my head following the third time I heard it on the "Funky Monkey" FM station here in Tacoma. This was already after I had heard "Stupify" (which I had originally thought was called "StupidFly"), "Voices" and "Down With The Sickness" for the hundredth time, each. While I kinda liked each song to some extent, I had always found myself making fun of them, especially with lead vocalist David Draiman's unique, and often …

2 stars They messed this album up as much as possible
This album has many sweet riffs, but the lead singer sounds like an ape and makes a wide range of stupid noises that screams cheeseness. Its a little embarasing to listen to this album. Worth a borrow, not a buy.
