Drummer Math Priest is one of the best - lots to take in, and some great laid-back timing. Andy Miller plays a mean telecaster with solos and chord progressions that are highly original and clever. Nigel Clark's voice is unique, his harmonies are delightfully smooth and he plays text-book bass.

This first album has some cracking music. The songs are well written and arranged, and beautifully mastered so that the overall engineering of the album is first class. There are a couple of tracks that I skip through, but the others more than make up for them. 'Never Again' and 'Grand Old English Oak Tree' are for me, the cream of the Dodgy Album. These guys deserve more recognition for their musicianship.

Best band of the nineties.

After buying dodgys other albums which are all really good i was expecting this to be a feel good positive youthfull one like the others but its not,

The opening song is good tracks 3 and 4 is good and the last song is good, on tracks 7, 8 and 9 the speed is very slow and the lyrics are sad and comfortless, tracks 7, 8 and 9 would have sounded ok if they were not all next to each other but because the mood is sad and slow for so long the album loses energy,

also you can tell producer Ian broudie (singer of the lightening seeds) had a lot of control over the sound with those horrible low pitched sounds on "I NEED ANUTHER" and the horrible gloomy background sounds on "NEVER AGAIN". The drums sound like they are being played with pencilsticks.

Im convinced the running order of the songs was supposed to be and should be like this 1.INTRO(Sound of the waves) 2.oak tree 3. water under the bridge 4.lovebirds 5. cold tea 6. i need anuther 7. never again 8. satisfied 9. as my time goes by 10. stand by yourself 11. were not going to take this anymore.

Unfortunetly the album overall sounds very sad and slow because it loses positive lyrics and energy,but it sounds much better if you play the songs in the running order metioned above
