Donnie McClurkin is a US-born gospel singer whose success has crossed over into the mainstream.
McClurkin was inspired by his aunt and Andraé Crouch, another gospel singer with whom McClurkin performed in his youth. McClurkin opted to pursue a career in music form an early age and had formed the McClurkin Singers and the New York Restoration Choir when he was still a teenager. A church contact led to a contract with Warner Alliance and his self-titled debut in 1996. He made the mainstream charts with his follow-up, the Live in London album, and since then he has found success in both the Gospel and the Billboard 200 charts.
