Overview Edit

"Pop Trash" is Duran Duran's 10th studio album. It was written and recorded by the lineup of Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes and Warren Cuccurullo.

Released on Hollywood Records, it marked the band's first release not under Capitol Records/EMI, with whom they'd been signed since 1981.

The album cover is a photo of a rhinestone-encrusted car that belonged to Liberace.

The album received mostly poor reviews on release and failed to make either the US Billboard 100 or UK album charts.

In July 2008, the album, which has been out of print on CD since 2001, became available as a download through the iTunes Store in the United States and Europe, along with the band's previous effort, 1997's Medazzaland.

This would prove to be Cuccurullo's last album with the band , as he was asked to leave the following year in order to facilitate the return of original members John, Roger & Andy Taylor. The reunited band would subsequently sign with Sony Music and release their next album Astronaut in 2004.

5 stars they're back once again
So here is what the fans have been waiting for. The new album. Although the media aren't very interested in duran anymore, they are wrong. This album rocks from beginning to end. There are a lot of ballads : someone else, not me; starting to remember (very beatlesque); the sun doen't shine forever, along with powerful tracks like playing with uranium, lavalamp (with psychedelic influences) Mars meets Venus and Last day on earth. The album is not too long. 45 minutes. It's one you listen to from …

3 stars for duran duran fans . . .
This album continues Duran Duran's streak of producing impressive but doomed to be overlooked by younger audiences pop albums. IMO their worst album by far is seven and the ragged tiger, every other cd is great, including Liberty - I can't understand why so many don't seem to like that one. Pop Trash is a bit better than Medazzaland but nowhere near as good as the wedding album, but then, what is? For as long as they've been around, Duran Duran has impressed me with the continuing quality of their work, and Pop Trash is no exception.
