Overview Edit

Ice on Fire is the nineteenth studio album by British singer/songwriter Elton John, recorded at Sol Studios and released in 1985. It was the first album since Blue Moves produced by Elton's classic producer, Gus Dudgeon. But it was met with little praise, and only reached number 48 on the US charts, although it reached #3 in the UK. George Michael appears on two tracks on the album: "Nikita" and "Wrap Her Up".

Despite the mediocre sales of the album, both those tracks became Top 20 hits, the former reaching #7 in the US and #4 in the UK. Roger Taylor and John Deacon of Queen play drums and bass guitar respectively on the track "Too Young".

Both of those albums contained some fine album tracks as well as those major hit singles and some lesser hits, and this album followed the pattern. Gus Dudgeon, producer of Elton's albums from his classic 1970 t…

3 stars NOT SO GOOD AS USUAL BUT ALSO NOT SO BAD AS SAID
When I bought this record, I was thinking it would be a disaster, but after listening it carefully, I discovered that it was not the usual average quality generally delivered by Elton, but at the same time, I found some songs very interesting. I heard and knew "Nikita", the obvious hit, a great song, and I wondered what about the other songs on the album. Now in my point of view at least "This Town", "Soul Glove", "Cry to heaven", "Too young" and perhaps "Wrap her up" are very worthy songs. But …
