Overview Edit

"What Took You So Long?" is a song by English pop singer-songwriter Emma Bunton from her debut solo album, A Girl Like Me (2001). Written by Bunton, Richard Stannard, Julian Gallagher, Martin Harrington, John Themis, and Dave Morgan and released as the album's lead single in the United Kingdom on 2 April 2001, it debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart with 76,000 copies sold in its first week, making it the singer's first—and so far only—number-one single in the UK. "What Took You So Long?" became the UK's forty-first best-selling single of 2001, and has sold 257,849 copies altogether. The music video for the single, directed by Greg Masuak, was shot in the Mojave Desert, California.
